The lands and waters of the archipelago, which have been feeding families for generations, are facing an unprecedented ordeal. The veil of ash brought by the awakening of Mount Solma disrupts rituals and daily life, affecting the clarity of the water and the serenity of the villages.

The ash plume released by the mountain stifles living spaces and threatens the health of the most fragile. Near the coast, the fallout impacts the quality of fisheries resources and disrupts fishing circuits, vital for the survival and autonomy of clans. We believe that the saturation of villages and marine pollution stress the balance of secondary islands.

Smoke and dust cause breathing difficulties, particularly for children and elderly people, who are the pillars of memory. Moreover, the released substances make rainwater and wells unfit for consumption, creating a health risk for everyone.

To support the resilience of the Yoranis, we wish to propose solidarity actions, carried out with respect for your customs and in constant consultation with the Velanou:

Support for vital needs: Establishment of temporary solidarity spaces for displaced families and distribution of essential resources, including tested drinking water, food, protective masks and hygiene products.

Medical and maritime support: Deployment of mobile clinics to reach isolated islands, monitoring of respiratory care and support for maritime logistics to secure crossings and fishing.

Environmental preservation: Carrying out light work to protect water sources and living areas from volcanic fallout.

To succeed in this mission, we will act in harmony with local authorities and clan councils, sharing our resources during your community assemblies. We will ensure that every gesture is made at the ‘right moment’, validated by those who interpret the signs of the sea.

It is in this spirit of mutual aid, faithful to the tradition of open hands, that we call for unity. Together, listening to the wind and the sea, we will protect the future of the archipelago.

DONATE

Support for the community of the Eastern Seaboard and the Archipelago facing the awakening of Mount Solma Under the weight of ashes, the voices of the clans of the Littoral must be heard.
