Circular Energy: Biodigesters for Energy Autonomy

In remote rural areas of Indonesia, cooking with wood is a major cause of deforestation and respiratory diseases.

The Technical Solution: MAGA installed 50 domestic methanization units (“Biodigesters”).

  • Process: Anaerobic fermentation of agricultural waste and animal manure.
  • Result: Each unit produces 2 m3 of biogas per day, enough for 4 hours of cooking.
  • By-product: The residue (digestate) is used as a nitrogen-rich liquid fertilizer for rice paddies, closing the ecological loop.
